COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT

Iron Sharpens Iron

Group training at X-Factor is designed to simulate the pressure and speed of a real game. While private training isolates mechanics, group sessions force you to apply those skills against live defense.

These are not "camps" where athletes stand in line and wait for a turn. These are high-energy, competitive sessions where advanced athletes (6th Grade & up) push each other to perform at a higher level. We create a controlled, intense environment where decision-making, reaction time, and basketball IQ are tested on every rep.

GAME SIMULATION

Real Game Concepts

We focus on the skills that only reveal themselves when other bodies are on the court. In our group sessions, athletes learn how to operate within a system and exploit defensive mistakes.

Our group curriculum includes:

Live Competition:

1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 breakdowns that force players to score with limited dribbles and tight spacing.

Defensive Concepts:

Learning proper help-side rotations, on-ball defense, and communication skills required for team play.

Spacing & Cutting:

How to move without the ball to create easy scoring opportunities for yourself and teammates.

Decision Making:

High-pressure drills that force athletes to read the defense and make the correct pass or shot instantly.

Conditioning:

Basketball-specific conditioning disguised within competitive drills to improve stamina.

PRO-LEVEL MENTORSHIP

The Xavier Allen Advantage

Your child will not be trained by a volunteer dad or a novice coach. They will be trained by a New York State scoring champion (32 PPG) and active professional player.

Xavier Allen brings the intensity of the pro game to Long Island. Having spent time in the gym with NBA stars like Jimmy Butler and Kevin Love, Xavier knows exactly what the highest level looks like. He demands that same level of focus and effort from every athlete who steps into our group sessions.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our competitive group training sessions.

What is the age requirement for group training?

We accept advanced athletes starting at the 6th-grade level. Groups are typically segmented by age and skill level to ensure competitive balance on the court.

Do you allow beginners in group sessions?

No. To maintain the intensity and flow of the session for our elite clients, we do not accept beginners. Athletes must have a foundational understanding of the game and be able to keep up with the pace of instruction.

What is the difference between private and group training?

Private training is for mechanical correction (shooting form, footwork) in a controlled setting. Group training is for application (using those skills against defense) and improving basketball IQ through competition.

How many players are in a group?

We keep our groups small enough to ensure high repetitions but large enough to run team-style drills (3v3, 4v4). We strictly limit class sizes to ensure every player gets coaching attention.

Can I drop in for a single session?

We recommend contacting us in advance. Because our sessions are curated for skill level, we need to ensure there is space available and that your athlete is placed in the correct group.

What if my child is the best player in their current league?

That is exactly why they need X-Factor. We will place them in a group where they are no longer the best player, forcing them to adapt, work harder, and grow.
