Position-Specific Development

ROLE MASTERY

Dominate Your Spot

Modern basketball requires versatility, but to reach the next level, you must master the specific skills demanded by your position. A point guard does not train the same way as a rim protector. At X-Factor, we break down the game into its component parts to help you thrive in your specific role.

We analyze the game from the perspective of the "Next Level." Whether you are a lead guard trying to run an offense or a forward developing a face-up game, we provide the technical blueprints used by college and professional players to succeed at that specific spot on the floor.

COMPLETE ARSENAL

Targeted Skill Work

We do not believe in generic drills. We tailor our sessions based on where you operate on the court. Our curriculum covers:

Point Guards:

Elite ball-handling, reading pick-and-roll defenses, tempo control, and vocal leadership.

Wings & Scorers:

Creating space off the dribble, moving without the ball, shooting off screens, and finishing through contact.

Post & Bigs:

Advanced footwork (drop steps, up-and-unders), face-up shooting, rim protection, and rebounding mechanics.

The "Hybrid" Player:

For modern positionless basketball, we teach bigs how to handle the ball and guards how to post up smaller defenders.

Defensive Specialist:

Techniques for locking down your opponent, denying passing lanes, and navigating screens.

PRO-LEVEL MENTORSHIP

The Xavier Allen Advantage

Your team will not be trained by a volunteer dad or a novice coach. They will be trained by a New York State scoring champion (32 PPG) and active professional player.

Xavier Allen brings the intensity of the pro game to Long Island. Having spent time in the gym with NBA stars like Jimmy Butler and Kevin Love, Xavier knows exactly what the highest level looks like. He demands that same level of focus and effort from every athlete who steps onto the court.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our position-specific training programs.

Do you train centers and post players?

Yes. While many trainers focus only on guard skills, we offer specialized instruction for big men and post players, focusing on footwork, leverage, and soft touch around the rim.

I am a guard, but I want to learn post moves. Is that allowed?

Absolutely. In modern basketball, guards often need to post up smaller defenders. We encourage "positionless" skill development to make you a more versatile threat on the court.

Do you offer shooting training for all positions?

Yes. Shooting is a universal skill. Whether you are a center or a point guard, we work on mechanics, release time, and consistency for every player in our program.

How do I know which position to train for?

For younger athletes (Middle School), we recommend broad skill development. As players reach High School, we help identify their natural position based on size and skill set, then tailor the training to match.

Can different positions train together?

Yes. It is highly effective for a Point Guard and a Center to train together. This allows them to work on synergy drills, such as the Pick-and-Roll, where both positions learn to read and react to each other.

Is this training for beginners?

No. X-Factor is strictly for advanced athletes (6th Grade & up) who have mastered the basics. We focus on advanced concepts like reading defensive coverages, which requires a strong foundation.
